Saw “A Dog Year,” a 2009 HBO movie with #Jeff #Bridges as an angry, stuck writer who adopts an abused border collie, goes off by himself and tries to rehab the dog and himself. A terrible movie. Bridge’s character, Jon, owns two Labrador Retrievers. One has to be put down. The other is just forgotten in the script.
He’s got a wife somewhere, but we never see her even when he returns to her. The retraining of the dog takes one lesson in which he says the dog’s name again and again and then gets him to “sit.” Amazing, the trainer could put the Dog Whisperer to shame. The ending came too fast and unbelievable. The effort felt like huge chunks were thrown out, caused only dissatisfaction and confusion. Less than 2 stars: save your time and do not rent this one from NetFlix.

“The time to save is now. When a dog gets a bone, he doesn't go out and make a down payment on a bigger bone. He buries the one he's got.” #Will #Rogers
